VULCAN FITNESS TEAM
The VFT is currently conducting six week training programs in preparation for the Fire Academy physical. Candidates must be proficient in body weight exercises as well as strenuous cardiovascular activity.
The VFT meets once on the weekend to teach group fitness the Academy way. Participants can expect the following:
Week 1* Evaluation and Testing
Candidates will be evaluated to see if they can perform the FDNY's physical prerequisites.
Week 2-5* Training
The candidate will be guided towards improving their weaknesses.
Week 6* Final
The candidate will perform the week 1 test to note their progress and Academy readiness.
Be advised that the Vulcan Society strongly encourages candidates to also seek professional assistance and join a gym in preparation for one of the toughest academies in the country.
Participants should have the following:
A doctor's note (a copy of the one used for CPAT training)
proper fitness attire
Participants MUST be currently eligible for this year's academy with a list number no higher than 6,000.
