April 28th, 2016  was the Twenty Sixth Anniversary of the dedication of the Chief Wesley Williams Statue at the Harlem YMCA, on 135th Street, which was renamed "Wesley Williams Place".

Pictured left to right in the front row are, the late William "Bill" Johnson, past President and founding member of the NYPD Guardians Association, and a member of the Statue committee, the late Tina Allen, the Sculptress who created the Statue, former Fire Commissioner Carlos Rivera, myself Elbert Washington and Vulcan Society Master of Ceremony, and committee member, the late John Hamlin.

Not pictured, but present, was Vulcan Society past President, and founding President of the IABPFF, Brother David James Floyd.
Brother Floyd was THE person responsible for that "Great Day in Harlem", he was the committee Chairman and the force behind this tremendous accomplishment.
Brother Floyd was also the first Black Firefighter ever assigned to a Rescue Company in the History of the FDNY, he was assigned to Rescue Company Two in Brooklyn.

At the time of this photograph, I was President of the Vulcan Society and also assigned to Rescue Two, becoming the third Black Firefighter to serve in the company, following Brother John Mitchell who succeeded Dave.
